Ahloa! Welcome to Peru where public restrooms have no toilet seats, toilet paper, paper towels or soap! How might you navigate something so horrible you might ask? Well my friends...you went no where without a pack of tissues and hand sanitizer. Welcome to Peru where it only rains twice a year, and its so dry your throat gets raw from the dust, and when you blow your nose it comes out black.
This is the view from our hotel room window. I was the small group leader for two wonderful girls; Stephanie and Emily. The window only consisted of a sliding glass pane. The horns began at around 6am. They love to honk their horns!
This is the first church we attended. A boy named Christian (top row, black shirt in picture below) who we got to know really well, tagged along with us the entire time we were in Lima. He is the drummer in this church's band. We ended the service with worship that went on and on, we had so much fun jumping and clapping along. We didn't know the words they were singing, but it didn't matter.
This is a photo taken on the last day of the VBS we held at Pastor Juan's Church (he's in the sweater vest). What an awesome experience. Most of the time we had our interpreter Issac (second row, far right), but if he wasn't with us our leader Pastor Craig would jump in. The theme was Superhero, thus why we all look like dorks. We sang the catchiest theme song, so catchy it would run through our heads all day! At VBS I would say about 70 children gave their lives to the Jesus! Awesome right, that was the craziest alter call I think I've ever been apart of!
This is a view from one of the MANY bus rides from our hotel to our destination. The entire city of Lima was mostly surrounded by mountains, they looked more like hills of dirt. No trees, no grass, just rock. The houses the sprawl up the mountain sides are the poorer areas. There is only private trash pick-up, so if you couldn't afford to have someone pick up your trash, it laid in the street; for the wild dogs and homeless to pick through. If you could afford to have someone pick up your trash; it was usually taken to a mountain side and lit on fire.

One morning we waled to and prayed over a children's ministry room tucked on the side of a mountain headed by Pastor Teddy. This room is in one of the poorer areas where people need hope. We gave money to help this ministry get some supplies it needs to reach more children.

Then we came down to a school in the area. We a song, the Derek rapped in the middle of. The kids loved this. We also did skits and someone gave their testimony. After that, we handed our candy and pencils that were donated for our trip.

This is one of a few dirt soccer fields we drove past. While we were at one public school, the boys were invited to play, and the we played volleyball with the girls.
One of the last days we were in Lima, we went shopping at an artisan market; Pastor Craig taught us to barter, and then we went to the more affluent side of Lima and saw the beach. The beach was all rock, and when the waves it, it made an awesome sound. We watched surfers and passed out what tracks we had left over.
This is Edith, and the old house we ate dinner and attended Pastor Gusto's small group in the night before we flew back. Edith; like Christian hung out with us pretty much the entire time we were in Lima. She was so fun; and full of energy. She helped with finding all the places we were suppose to go, helping Pastor Craig navigate the menus etc. I will really miss her.
